If you are interested in doing 3D development, there are better engines out there. There is a free version with some limitations from YYG website, that you can use to get a feel for the software and if it will suit your needs before commiting to purchasing it. If you are looking into mobile development or other platforms, there is a higher cost of entry, and you should really work with it before jumpin in. I have greatly enjoyed both GMS 1.4 and 2, and if you are a new/newer developer working on primarily 2D games for Windows, it is a great tool. Hence, no more GMS 1.4 on the storefront. GMS 1.4 still exists and works, of course, for those that have it and are not concerned that it is a 'dead' version.Īll efforts from the developers are going towards improving and supporting GMS 2, so that is the platform that it makes sense that the developers would be willing to sell. Otherise, they would be selling software that doesn't get support from the developers, and that is not a preferred scenario for anyone.
GameMaker Studio 1.4 is no longer supported by the developers, so they removed it from sale.
